This cartoon was actually about me (Kelly - I don’t want to give my last name) and my dog Marmaduke, when I was a boy back in 1970, and lived in the South ..
I did get used copy of What Is God's Area Code (1974), a brief book spinoff. Has afterword by Fr Andrew Greeley. It was ok. Duke is huge, mammoth feetpaws. The southern accent not as noticeable in the paperback

I have pictures of me and my dog MARMADUKE back in the South in 1970, and they are spot on with the cartoon strip
