BOOK REVIEW: THE KNIGHT LIFE - CHIVALRY AIN'T DEAD

THE KNIGHT LIFE: CHIVALRY AIN'T DEAD
Keith Knight
Hachette Book Group, 2010
211 pages

Keith Knight made news in the cartooning group when it was announced that he's launching a daily strip. Keith is known for his subversive K Chronicles strip so fans speculated on how tame the strip would be.

The daily Knight Life is tame in comparison to his weekly strip, but it still manages to bring in satirical bite into the pop culture and current events. The strip has been running for over two years and it was recently collected into a book.

This book collects roughly the first sixteen months of the strip. It's similar to the Pearls Before Swine treasuries in that many strips comes with creator commentary and that all the Sundays are in color.

It's quite evident that even with the toning down for the daily newspapers there were still strips that have been edited for syndication. Those strips are presented the way the cartoonist intended, followed by a note on what got changed. There is even one instance where an entire strip was replaced with another; both strips are included in the book.

Overall this is a good book to have. The printing is top notch and alot of the strips are great. This has over an year and half worth of strips, so there's quite a few to go through, too.
